Didactical and legal perspecitives on ki-supported writing

(Center for the Didactics of Science at the Ruhr University Bochum) The project team at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU), has presented a comprehensive legal evaluation of the fundamental legal issues related to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based writing tools in higher education. An important finding was that software cannot have authorship of a text. However, if students make significant contributions to the content of the text, they are considered to be the authors. This is a difficult question that must be decided on a case-by-case basis. The report was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and is available in german language:
